Current Project: Detection and Mapping of Magnetic Landmines
Phase 1. This project is already underway.
* Dr. Jepsen is interacting with the leading technical managers of several of the largest Trusts with active landmine removal programs around the world. Site visits are being planned and meetings scheduled. Review of available systems continues. A comprehensive report will be prepared and distributed. Completion is planned for the end of August.
* Participation in the field testing of the 5-magnetometer drone gradiometer system is to be carried out in Germany this summer. The results are scheduled for presentation in November.
* At the same time, an ongoing project of computer programming, data testing and experimentation with artificial and real data is already in progress under Dr. Newell. Completion is expected by August.
Phase 2: As Phase 1 proceeds, acquisition of a DroneMag2 magnetic gradiometer system will be initated. To be ordered as soon as funding can be obtained.
Phase 3: This will be the formation of a survey team, including a qualified drone pilot, drone geophysicist and support person for training in optimum survey design and execution strategy. To be operational by the end of the summer.
